Cannon Hi4-T PHEV October Offer: $2,000 Bonus or Fuel Card?

Generic AI concept of an unbranded plug-in hybrid dual-cab ute at an Australian showroom charger; not a GWM vehicle or actual dealership photograph

GWM Australia's current Cannon model page lists a choice of a $2,000 driveaway cash bonus or a $2,000 fuel card with a new Cannon Hi4-T PHEV purchased before 31 October 2026. As checked on 8 October, it displays indicative driveaway starting prices of $50,990 for Lux PHEV and $54,990 for Ultra PHEV. This is a check of a live October offer, not a claim that GWM announced a new promotion today. Buyers should obtain a written dealer quote before assuming how the bonus interacts with the advertised price.

The page's footnotes distinguish the two choices. For the cash bonus, GWM says the amount is deducted from the advertised driveaway price, is not paid out as cash and applies to vehicles ordered and delivered by 31 October 2026, while stocks last. For the fuel card, GWM says one $2,000 card is provided per eligible vehicle at delivery, subject to availability, for a new Cannon PHEV purchased before 31 October. The page says each is not available with other offers unless stated otherwise. Do not assume you can combine the cash bonus and card, or subtract another $2,000 from a displayed price that may already include the promotion. Ask the dealer to show the exact calculation on the contract.

Source and offer terms checked 8 October 2026. GWM can change or withdraw its offer. The cover is a generic AI concept, not a photograph of the Cannon Hi4-T or a GWM showroom. What does GWM currently show?

Item GWM Australia model-page statement Buyer action
Lux PHEV driveaway From $50,990, indicative Get a postcode-specific written quote and identify any included bonus.
Ultra PHEV driveaway From $54,990, indicative Check grade, options, delivery fees and offer treatment.
Promotion choice $2,000 driveaway cash bonus or $2,000 fuel card Put the chosen benefit and eligibility on the order.
Deadline 31 October 2026 terms Confirm order and delivery timing; the cash path requires both by the date.

The "from" prices are not universal on-road prices for every buyer or postcode. GWM describes them as indicative and subject to terms. Recent automotive coverage, including CarExpert's launch report, expected showroom arrivals from mid-October 2026. An expected arrival window is not proof of a specific vehicle in stock, or proof that every order can meet an offer's delivery condition. If timing matters, request an actual stock number or written estimated delivery date rather than relying on a general national timetable.

GWM lists the two PHEV grades and a choice of benefits; a dealer quote must show how the offer applies to your exact vehicle.

How should a buyer compare cash bonus and fuel card?

A price deduction lowers the contracted driveaway amount if you qualify and if it has not already been incorporated in the advertised figure. A fuel card is a separate item provided on delivery and may be more useful to a buyer who will use the card's eligible fuel network and terms. Neither should be treated as free cash in hand. Read the card's issuer, expiry, permitted purchases and any restrictions before equating its face value to an unconditional price saving; the model page does not lay out every card-use detail.

The clearest comparison is two written quotes for the same grade, vehicle, location, delivery date and optional equipment: one with the cash path and one with the fuel-card path. Ask the dealer to identify the advertised price, all fees, the promotion line and final amount payable. If finance or another deal is involved, ask whether it can coexist with the selected benefit; GWM's published wording warns against assuming stackability. Be especially cautious where a dealer says a discount is “extra” but the official page says it is deducted from the advertised driveaway price.

This is separate from the TANK 500 diesel October offer we examined earlier. Similar-sounding $2,000 offers can apply to different vehicles and have different fine print. Check the current Cannon Hi4-T document and quote, not the conditions attached to a TANK 500 or Cannon Alpha diesel.

What vehicle facts matter beyond the offer?

GWM says the Cannon Hi4-T combines a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and electric motor for 310kW and 750Nm combined, with a low-range transfer case and a 3,500kg maximum braked towing claim. The advertised up to 115km electric-only range is NEDC, and the up to 1,037km combined range is based on GWM internal testing under optimal conditions. Those are manufacturer figures, not our road-test findings. Real range can change with payload, weather, terrain, battery condition and driving style. An individual towing setup must still respect towball download, payload, axle and gross combination limits; a maximum towing figure alone is not a promise that every load combination is legal or sensible.

Importantly, the Cannon page's safety-rating section says the five-star ANCAP claim excludes PHEV variants. Do not apply a diesel Cannon rating to the Hi4-T PHEV simply because the body style or name is similar. Ask for the exact PHEV variant's current ANCAP status or test documentation if that is central to your decision. This distinction is more useful than treating a single headline number as a complete vehicle assessment.

The vehicle also warrants accessory-specific checking. A rack, gantry, canopy or tub cover listed for a diesel Cannon is not automatically approved for the PHEV's exact year and tub. See our Cannon / Poer gantry selection guide for the measurements and load questions to put to an accessory seller. That article does not assert compatibility with the Hi4-T; it shows how to verify it.

Manufacturer specifications have conditions. In particular, the current Cannon page excludes the PHEV from its five-star ANCAP claim.

What should you do before the 31 October deadline?

Ask your local dealer for the exact Lux or Ultra PHEV vehicle, a written driveaway quote showing whether the $2,000 cash bonus is already reflected, or written confirmation of the fuel-card alternative. Verify order and delivery eligibility, stock or allocation status, and any other offer interactions. Compare the official current Cannon page and footnotes again immediately before signing, because GWM reserves the right to change or withdraw its promotion. If a car cannot be delivered within the required cash-offer window, seek a clear written answer on what price applies instead.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take both the $2,000 deduction and the $2,000 fuel card?

The model page presents them as an or choice. Do not assume both apply. Have the selected benefit documented by the dealer.

Is the $50,990 Lux price reduced by another $2,000?

The official page calls its driveaway price indicative and says the cashback is deducted from the advertised driveaway price. Do not subtract the bonus again without a written dealer breakdown.

Does the Cannon's five-star ANCAP claim cover the PHEV?

Not on the cited GWM page: it expressly excludes PHEV variants from that claim. Confirm the exact Hi4-T's current safety-rating status separately.
