Choose the Landace pickup gantry by the load you actually need to carry, not by the word “universal”. The current listing offers two selectable configurations for GWM Ute / Poer / Cannon builds: a gantry without luggage baskets and a gantry with two luggage baskets. It does not publish a model-year fitment matrix or a safe working load for the rack or baskets. Measure your tub and ask for the selected kit's mounting drawings and ratings before ordering.
Product listing checked 8 October 2026. We have not installed or load-tested this gantry. The cover is a generic AI touring concept, not a Landace product photograph or evidence of Cannon fitment. Three original editorial graphics explain the choices.
What is the difference between the two listed options?
| Store option | What the listing says is included | Sensible use case | Still unconfirmed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Universal pickup gantry without luggage basket | The gantry rack, with no baskets in the option name | A buyer who wants to plan their own compatible, separately rated accessory layout | Exact rail dimensions, mounting hardware, rack rating and vehicle-year fit |
| Universal pickup gantry with two luggage baskets | The gantry plus two luggage baskets | A buyer who wants the store's basket configuration rather than sourcing baskets separately | Basket dimensions, basket and rack ratings, fasteners and whole-system load limit |
The two-basket option is not automatically “stronger”. Baskets add their own mass and wind area, and the underlying gantry may have the same mounting points. The listing's option names do not state whether the baskets can be removed independently or whether a future basket can be added to the bare rack. Ask the seller for the exact bill of materials and photographs of the selected SKU. If you want a low-profile setup to clear a garage or a tonneau cover, a basket's height can matter more than its visual convenience.

Does “universal” mean it fits every Australian GWM Cannon?
No. The product description lists GWM Ute / Poer / Cannon applications but specifically tells buyers to confirm pickup-tub dimensions, rail style, canopy or tonneau clearance and accessory layout. Its fitment table leaves model years unspecified and asks for exact vehicle, version and powertrain confirmation. “Cannon” is a family name, not a dimensioned installation approval. Do not assume Cannon, Cannon Alpha, cab-chassis and different generations share one tub or one clamping surface.
Send the seller your year, VIN where appropriate, grade, powertrain and tub type. Measure the inner and outer tub width at the proposed fixing position, usable tub length, top-rail profile and the space between the rear glass and the intended rack. Photograph bed liners, factory rails, sports bars, tie-downs and any existing hard cover. Ask for the gantry footprint, fixing method and a drawing showing where loads enter the vehicle structure. If the rack needs drilling, ask where, how corrosion protection is handled and what happens to any cover or liner warranty.
A cover that opens when the tub is empty may foul the rack legs after installation. A canopy, roller shutter, tent or rooftop load may create the same conflict. Test the tailgate sweep and cargo-loading path, not just parked-clearance measurements. Our Cannon Hi4-T launch overview describes the new vehicle; it does not establish that this aftermarket gantry fits its specific tub.

What can the gantry and baskets safely carry?
The current listing does not provide a numerical load rating for the rack, each basket or the vehicle-to-rack mounting system. Do not invent one by comparing another brand's tub rack. Ask the supplier for the allowed on-road dynamic load, any different off-road or static limit, the load distribution requirement, and whether the rating applies to the bare gantry or the gantry-plus-baskets assembly. A qualified installer should check that the selected mounting method and the vehicle's own payload and axle limits support the planned use.
Count the mass of the gantry, two baskets if selected, all attachment hardware and the actual cargo. Keep heavy items low in the tub where possible. High cargo affects handling and can increase wind noise, fuel use and overall height. Secure every item using appropriate restraints; an open basket is not a substitute for proper tie-downs. Recheck fixings after initial use and after rough roads, following the maker's written instructions.
The listing recommends professional installation and says buyers should confirm mounting strength, cargo load, height clearance, rear visibility and local road rules. It also warns that this gantry is not to be treated as rollover protection or a rated recovery point unless certified for that use. A steel-looking frame is not a certified roll bar, and tow or snatch forces are not ordinary cargo loads. Do not attach recovery equipment to it on appearance alone.

Which configuration should you buy?
Choose the bare gantry only if its fit and rating are confirmed and you either do not need top baskets or have independently verified compatible accessories. Choose the two-basket version if you want that exact basket layout and the seller confirms the full system's dimensions, included parts, rating and fixings for your vehicle. Neither is a sensible impulse purchase if those details remain unavailable. Where a seller cannot document the planned load, change the load plan or choose a product with a published rating rather than guessing.
Before paying, request a written answer to six questions: Which exact Cannon or Poer variant is covered? What tub-rail measurements are required? Does the kit fit with my existing cover or canopy? What is the mounted system's permitted load? What are the installed height and visibility effects? What hardware and professional work are included? Then select the correct live store option, checking current price and shipping terms at checkout.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add the two baskets later if I buy the bare gantry?
The current option names do not establish retrofit compatibility. Ask the seller whether the baskets, fixings and a whole-system rating are available separately for the precise rack revision.
Is this gantry a roll bar or recovery point?
Not by default. The listing expressly says not to treat it as rollover protection or a rated recovery point without certification for that use.
Will it fit a Cannon Alpha or a Cannon Hi4-T PHEV?
The listing uses broad Cannon / Poer labels but provides no model-year or powertrain fitment matrix. Obtain written confirmation against the exact vehicle and tub before buying.
