GWM Opens Western Australia Parts Centre: What Owners Should Know

News update — 20 September 2026: GWM says its new Western Australia Parts Distribution Centre is fully operational, with more than 1,100 stock-keeping units, 30,000 individual parts and over $1 million in inventory. Stocked parts can be delivered overnight to GWM dealers across Western Australia, according to the company.

For TANK owners, the practical benefit is a shorter supply route for frequently needed genuine service, repair and accident parts. It does not mean every part is held in WA, every repair becomes an overnight job or aftermarket accessories are supplied through the new centre.

What has GWM opened in Western Australia?

GWM announced on 5 August 2026 that a dedicated Western Australia Parts Distribution Centre had begun operating. The company describes it as a multi-million-dollar investment designed to place commonly requested inventory closer to its WA dealer network.

The facility launched with parts for routine servicing, repairs, accident work and vehicle systems. GWM also said a direct replenishment shipment from China was scheduled for August, with future stock levels to be adjusted using dealer demand, vehicle sales and purchasing trends.

This is an aftersales logistics facility, not a retail accessory store. Its main function is to help authorised dealers source genuine parts without sending every available order across the country.

What could improve for WA TANK owners?

1. A shorter route for stocked parts

Previously, a part not held by a WA dealer could require interstate supply. Local warehouse inventory gives the dealer another source inside the state. For stocked items, GWM says overnight delivery to WA dealers is possible.

“Overnight” refers to the dealer supply chain described by GWM. It is not a guaranteed repair-completion time for every customer. The workshop still needs to identify the correct part, place the order, receive it, schedule labour and complete any related diagnosis, programming or testing.

2. Better support for regular service and repair demand

GWM says the opening stock includes maintenance items, capped-price-service parts, accident and wear-related components, plus high-tech vehicle-system parts. That mix is intended to cover both predictable workshop demand and a proportion of urgent repairs.

Owners may benefit most when the requested part is a commonly used item already held in WA. Rare trim, colour-specific, powertrain-specific or low-demand components may still require replenishment or transfer from another warehouse.

3. Cross-warehouse fulfilment across three states

The company has also introduced cross-warehouse fulfilment between its WA, Victoria and Queensland distribution centres. Dealer orders can be allocated to a warehouse that has available stock rather than remaining tied to one default location.

That should give the network more flexibility when one warehouse is out of stock. It cannot eliminate back orders when the item is unavailable across the national network.

What the announcement does not guarantee

The new centre is a positive infrastructure investment, but owners should keep the claim in perspective.

It does not guarantee:

  • every GWM or TANK part is stored in WA;
  • every dealer order arrives the next day;
  • a workshop appointment is immediately available;
  • diagnosis, repair and calibration are completed overnight;
  • parts for every model year and market specification are interchangeable; or
  • aftermarket accessories are stocked or distributed by GWM.

Delivery can still depend on order cut-off times, dealer location, freight conditions, inventory accuracy and whether the correct part has been identified.

Genuine replacement parts and aftermarket accessories are different supply chains

GWM's WA facility supports the manufacturer's dealer and aftersales network. Genuine maintenance, warranty and replacement parts ordered by an authorised dealer may move through that network.

Independent aftermarket accessories—such as storage systems, lighting, recovery equipment, roof accessories or protective hardware—normally come from the retailer, brand or importer that sells them. The opening of GWM's warehouse should not be interpreted as a change to an independent retailer's inventory or delivery time.

Owners should ask the right supplier for the right category:

  • Vehicle servicing, warranty and genuine replacement parts: contact an authorised GWM dealer.
  • Aftermarket accessory stock, fitment and freight: contact the accessory retailer or manufacturer.
  • Mixed jobs: coordinate the dealer, accessory supplier and installer before parts are ordered.

How to make a parts enquiry more useful

Whether the request goes to a dealer or an accessory seller, provide enough detail to identify the exact vehicle and item.

Prepare:

  1. VIN or chassis details when requested;
  2. model, model year and build date;
  3. powertrain and grade;
  4. Australian-market and right-hand-drive status;
  5. the part number, if confirmed;
  6. clear photos of the failed or affected area;
  7. the workshop diagnosis or fault description; and
  8. accessories or modifications near the installation area.

For a dealer back order, ask:

  • Is the part held in WA now?
  • Can it be sourced through cross-warehouse fulfilment?
  • Is the quoted timing for warehouse dispatch, dealer delivery or completed repair?
  • Is the part superseded by a newer number?
  • Does installation require programming, calibration or additional components?

These questions separate a stock estimate from a complete repair timeline.

Why the investment matters as GWM's range grows

GWM's Australian range now spans more models and powertrains, including petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles. More combinations can create a wider parts catalogue and more powertrain-specific demand.

Local inventory and cross-warehouse allocation are therefore important parts of aftersales capacity. The result for owners will depend on how accurately GWM forecasts demand, how frequently stock is replenished and how effectively dealers communicate order status.

The facility should be judged over time by practical outcomes: parts availability, back-order duration, dealer communication and repair turnaround—not by warehouse size alone.

Frequently asked questions

Does the new WA centre sell parts directly to owners?

GWM's announcement describes a distribution centre supporting its dealer network. Owners should contact an authorised dealer for genuine service and replacement parts.

Will every stocked part reach a WA dealer overnight?

GWM says the centre enables overnight delivery of stocked parts to dealers across the region. Actual timing can still depend on order timing, location and freight conditions. Confirm the ETA with the ordering dealer.

Does it stock TANK 300 and TANK 500 parts?

GWM did not publish a complete model-by-model inventory list in the announcement. The centre supports the wider dealer network, but availability for a specific TANK part must be checked by part number and vehicle details.

Does this improve aftermarket accessory delivery?

Not directly. Independent accessories use the seller's own inventory and freight network. Ask the retailer for current stock and delivery information.

What if the WA warehouse does not have the required item?

GWM says cross-warehouse fulfilment can source dealer orders from its other Australian centres when stock is available. A part unavailable nationally may still remain on back order.
