Choose between these MK storage boxes by the space you can actually use and the mounting arrangement you can confirm. The side box and small box are separate listings, not interchangeable versions of one measured enclosure. In particular, the small box page gives a package size, which should not be treated as the dimensions of its installed body.

Commercial product guide / promotion. Decision Maker 4X4 sells the products discussed here. This comparison uses our current catalogue descriptions and supplier photographs. We have not independently measured, installed, load tested or water tested either box. Installed examples do not establish the supplied contents or compatibility with your vehicle.

What do the two product pages establish?
The MK universal side storage box is presented as compact exterior side storage. Its listing gives an outer box measurement, an approximate internal measurement and a listed weight. The MK small storage box is a separate storage accessory with its own internal dimensions, package measurement and colour variants.
| Catalogue field | MK side storage box | MK small storage box |
|---|---|---|
| Outer box dimensions | Listed as 700 x 480 x 200 mm | Not separately established by the reviewed specification list |
| Internal dimensions | About 650 x 418 x 137 mm | Approximately 685 x 465 x 250 mm |
| Package dimensions | Not the comparison measurement used here | Approximately 770 x 400 x 500 mm |
| Listed item weight | About 8 kg | Approximately 9 kg |
| Colour selection | Confirm the supplied finish | Orange, silver and black variants |
These are supplier listing figures, not our measurements. Both pages describe aluminium magnesium alloy and automotive structural steel; that material wording does not establish a permitted payload, corrosion test result or certified protection rating. Neither the size nor the stated item weight is a substitute for mounting instructions.

Why is the small box package size not enough for fitment?
A packing measurement answers a shipping question. It does not tell you the exact space occupied by an assembled box, its hinges, a mounting frame or the path of an opening lid. Ask for a dimensioned drawing of the actual product and the proposed mounting assembly before using a tape measure on your vehicle.
For the side box, an outer measurement is listed, but you should still identify its orientation and any projecting hardware. For the small box, request the missing external body dimensions explicitly. Do not compare the side box's outer size with the small box's package size as if they described the same object.
Internal dimensions also do not automatically establish useful capacity for your equipment. Take the measurements of the items you intend to carry, including handles, cases and plugs. Ask about the opening, lid intrusion and any internal mounting features. This guide does not calculate or advertise a usable litre capacity from the rectangular measurements.
Does universal mean the same brackets fit every GWM?
No universal fit is established here. The side box page refers to TANK 300 and TANK 400 applications and shows a Hybrid compatibility entry, while still requiring confirmation of the vehicle and bracket setup. The small box page refers to compatible TANK 300, TANK 400 and TANK 500 builds and asks for the powertrain or trim to be confirmed. Neither provides a complete year by year fitment chart.
Give the seller the actual model, build year, powertrain and proposed mounting location. Include photographs of any side panel, ladder, roof rack, spare wheel carrier or other equipment sharing that area. Ask which brackets and fasteners are supplied, which are additional, and how the installer is expected to support the assembly.
The open side box photo below is explicitly marked TANK 400 in the supplier gallery. It helps show an access arrangement; it is not evidence of an identical TANK 300 installation. Do not use the bags, pole or surrounding accessories in that photo as a packing list.

How should weight, movement and weather exposure be checked?
The listed 8 kg and 9 kg figures are item weights, not cargo ratings. Ask whether those figures include the hardware relevant to your order. Then account separately for the actual box, its mounting system and the contents. An approximate catalogue weight does not establish what the support structure can safely carry.
Have the installer review the proposed support and loading instructions for the actual vehicle. Check access with the box closed and open, including doors, tailgate, nearby glass and other accessories. A lid that opens in a supplier photograph may still conflict with a different ladder, rack or parking environment.
Ask for the relevant sealing information before planning to store equipment that needs protection from dust or water. Neither reviewed listing supplies a waterproof certification or a stated ingress protection rating for this comparison. We also do not certify vehicle width, protrusion or road use compliance; those require an assessment of the actual installation and applicable requirements.

What should you send before ordering?
Send the precise listing, selected colour where available, vehicle details, location photographs and the measurements of the equipment you want to store. Request the actual external dimensions, supplied parts, installation instructions and any permitted loading information relevant to the proposed mount. Keep the response with the order for the installer.
Follow the supplied inspection instructions after installation. The small box page asks users to secure it before driving, keep heavy items low and distributed, and recheck mounts after rough road use. Do not assume that placing equipment inside a closed box removes the need to secure the assembly.
For a different storage position, our TANK tailgate tool box guide covers another product decision, not an assurance that the systems fit together. Send us your fitment details before combining equipment in the same space.
Common questions
Can I use 770 x 400 x 500 mm as the small box's installed size?
No. That figure is labelled package size in the reviewed listing. Request the actual body and mounting dimensions before planning clearance.
Are the listed weights permitted cargo loads?
No. Item weight and permitted cargo load are different quantities. This comparison establishes no payload rating for either product or its mounting system.
Do the photos establish waterproofing or included equipment?
No. They illustrate the products and supplier installation examples. Confirm sealing information and a written packing list separately.
